IS IT SAFE TO VISIT THESE COUNTRIES IN YOUR TOURS?
ARE VISAS NECESSARY?
HOW MANY GUESTS ARE ON TOUR?
DO I NEED TO HAVE PHOTOGRAPHY SKILLS TO JOIN A TOUR?
Whether you have just purchased your first camera or are looking for some advanced instructions, Brambleberry Tours is the perfect opportunity. We aim to provide a great learning opportunity where you will get to learn from each other, as well as from the instruction of your guides. One of the tour leaders will be by your side to help you out, and sometimes we learn a new thing or two from you.
Non-photographer companions are welcome too!
WHAT SHOULD I PACK IN MY SUITCASE?
Pack light! A duffel or small suitcase is ideal.
Camera bag with camera and equipment, a camera bean bag or tripod, any medicine you take, insect repellant, comfortable and quick drying clothes (keep in mind that laundry is only available, at an extra charge, if the stay is for 2 days at a location).
Your passport, visa, vaccination card and some money for your personal use and tips.
Summer clothing is worn during the day. We recommend breathable shirts and hiking pants, especially the ones that can convert into shorts. Due to the high altitudes, the early morning and evening temperatures are cooler, so a light jacket or sweater is advisable. Layers work great to adjust yourself for the weather as the day goes on.
In the evening, all hotels and restaurants require long trousers for men in particular. The convertible pants works great for this. A raincoat or poncho is also advisable, especially during the rainy season. On safari, sensible walking shoes, sunglasses and a hat are recommended.
Don’t forget your insect repellent. DEET is your friend!
A detailed list is also available on the individual trip page, towards the bottom of the page.
CAN YOU ACCOMMODATE MY DIET?
We shall try our best to accommodate your dietary restrictions. Please let us know well in advance, so that the local crew can be informed of your needs.

WILL I BE ABLE TO CHARGE MY DEVICES LIKE PHONES AND CAMERAS?
Your rooms at lodges and hotels will have power sockets for charging.
In the tented accommodation, yes, there is a place to plug in and charge inside the restaurant tent.
You will need to bring your own converter for US devices, which take 110V. Keep in mind the power is not available for 24 hours and it is a good idea to plug in as soon as you get back from a day of touring! Note that some tour vehicles may be equipped with charging receptacles. Talk to your guide.
It is always a good idea to have extra batteries on hand.
ARE THERE SHOWERS AVAILABLE AT THE TENT CAMPS?
Yes, each tent has a shower, sink, and a chemical toilet. Typically, they are ready when you arrive at dusk from a tour. You will have five gallons and if you are nice and ask, perhaps more! Water bottles are provided for the sink area and brushing your teeth. Some tours have hotel accommodation, in which case expect 4-5 star rooms and restrooms.
WILL I HAVE CELL COVERAGE?
Cell coverage cannot be counted on. It is best to go into a tour and enjoy the time being “unplugged.” If there is an emergency, radio communications are available.
ARE THERE ANIMALS NEAR THE LODGES / TENTS?
Yes! It is possible for animals to pass right through camp at night. That is why it is forbidden to leave your tent at night unless you are escorted. Each evening the staff will be ready to take you to and from dinner in the restaurant tent to ensure your safety.
HOW LONG DO THE GAME DRIVES LAST?
The tours are several hours long. As you can imagine, restrooms are not easily available in the bush! Just let your guide know, in advance, that you’ll need a rest room and they will accommodate you.
